International Spy Museum

International Spy Museum... there be GAMERS there!

In a move of international intrigue (or just great thematic connection), the International Spy Museum in Washington, DC will stock the new Stronghold Games’ release Confusion: Espionage and Deception in the Cold War.

The International Spy Museum contacted Stronghold Games after hearing about the upcoming release of Confusion: Espionage and Deception in the Cold War.  There are some gamers in their spying midst, and once they saw the reviews of the game play and the quality of the components, they wanted to have this great game in their Gift Shop.  And the theme didn’t hurt either…

The International Spy Museum opened in Washington, DC on July 19, 2002. It is the only public museum in the United States solely dedicated to espionage and the only one in the world to provide a global perspective on an all-but-invisible profession that has shaped history and continues to have a significant impact on world events.

The Museum features the largest collection of international espionage artifacts ever placed on public display. Many of these objects are being seen by the public for the first time. These artifacts illuminate the work of famous spies and pivotal espionage actions as well as help bring to life the strategies and techniques of the men and women behind some of the most secretive espionage missions in world history.

The mission of the International Spy Museum is to educate the public about espionage in an engaging way and to provide a context that fosters understanding of its important role in and impact on current and historic events. The Museum focuses on human intelligence and reveals the role spies have played in world events throughout history. It is committed to the apolitical presentation of the history of espionage in order to provide visitors with nonbiased, accurate information.

Stronghold Games’ Confusion at Gen Con and the WBC!

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

Since Stronghold Games will not have its own presence at Gen Con this year, an exclusive arrangement has been made with the fantastic online retailer, Troll and Toad, to carry the Stronghold Games’ yet-to-be-released title, Confusion: Espionage and Deception in the Cold War.

Not only will Troll and Toad have Confusion: Espionage and Deception in the Cold War, but they will also have very limited quantities of the yet-to-be-released Survive: 5-6 Player mini-expansion, as well as an even smaller number of the Survive: The Giant Squid mini-expansion. And of course, they will have the base game, Survive: Escape From Atlantis!, as well.

Stronghold Games has made this arrangement with Troll and Toad due to the overwhelming demand and buzz generated at Origins from Confusion: Espionage and Deception in the Cold War. Stronghold Games didn’t want our fans at Gen Con to miss the opportunity to purchase Confusion before its availability at the retail level.

Quantities of Confusion: Espionage and Deception in the Cold War, Survive: 5-6 Player mini-expansion, and Survive: The Giant Squid mini-expansion will be very limited. Make sure that you visit Troll and Toad in booths 2015 and 2109 at Gen Con early to avoid disappointment and secure yourself a copy!

Note that Stronghold Games *will* be in attendance at the World Boardgaming Championships (the “WBC”) in Lancaster, Pennsylvania during the first week of August. Stronghold Games will have a very limited number of copies of these 3 items on hand there as well. Please visit the Stronghold Games booth at the WBC if you will be in attendance there.

If you can’t make it to Gen Con or the WBC, Confusion: Espionage and Deception in the Cold War, the Survive: 5-6 Player mini-expansion, and the Survive: The Giant Squid mini-expansion are all scheduled to be available at your friendly local or online game stores starting in September.

Postal Strike Affecting Shipments

Friday, June 24th, 2011

We would like to let our customers know that the Canada postal strike has reduced our ability to ship some replacement pieces to our customers. At present 50% of all our replacement pieces ship from Canada (to the U.S. and International locations as well), so this slowdown affects half of our customers regardless of their place of residency.

Additionally, our Canadian preorder customers for Confusion have had all their preorders shipped from our U.S. warehouse, however, these are likely “pooling” at the border due to shipment with USPS. Expect your preorder copy of Confusion to arrive shortly after the strike is resolved.

Meeting our customers’ needs has always been a top priority at Stronghold Games. We thank you for your patience whilst the postal strike is resolved.

Video Reviews of Confusion Pour In! Tom Vasel says “Confusion is my favorite deduction game ever!”

Friday, May 6th, 2011

Not sure whether you should preorder Confusion right now? After you watch these video reviews, we think you will be able to decide!

Here is the review by Tom Vasel of The Dice Tower:

Not convinced yet? Well, you should watch this HD video highlighting the components for Confusion, created by the talented Jeremy Salinas (“Drakkenstrike”)!

Still not sure about preordering? Here is opinion of another noted Reviewer, BGG’s UndeadViking:

“Confusion” Preorder, plus “Survive: 5-6 Player Mini-Expansion” Sales to Begin on Saturday, May 7!

Friday, April 29th, 2011
The preorder window for “Confusion: Espionage and Deception in the Cold War” will begin on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at noon (EDT).  This was delayed by 1 week, so that we could get official confirmation of the game being ready for shipment to our warehouse.

Also, at this same time, we will begin taking orders for the “Survive: 5-6 Player Mini-Expansion” and the restock of the “Survive: The Giant Squid Mini-Expansion” as well.

Please note that shipping for Confusion will occur in early/mid-June when this new game arrives in our warehouse.  Therefore, those who place an order for either of the 2 Survive Mini-Expansions in the same order as Confusion will have their complete order shipped in early/mid-June.  Those who place a separate order for either of these 2 Survive Mini-Expansions can expect them to ship within 2 or so weeks, as we’ll have these in stock around May 21, 2011.

With regard to the date change for starting the Confusion preorder, while we don’t take moving the preorder date lightly, we also don’t take lightly our mission to only offer a game for preorder once it is ready for shipping to our warehouse. That way, our customers are preordering a real game with a real delivery date, and not some “hope-for-the-best” arrangement.

The extra delay isn’t the greatest news, but we do hope that our desire to treat our customers the way we’d want to be treated ourselves is clearly demonstrated.

The good news here is that we are thrilled after seeing some production units that we flew in for the Gathering of Friends. The production quality has lived up to our high expectations (those who have been following our production of this game can attest to our pickiness!). From what we heard from those who tried the game at the Gathering of Friends, the game both looks and plays great!

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at noon EDT. Remember, we have a limit of 500 preorders at a 35% discount before we stop accepting them, so order early to avoid disappointment.
